Georgetown University’s Department of Linguistics invites
applications for a one-year visiting position at the rank of
Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2007. Candidates should have an
active research program and the ability to teach classes in one or
more of the following areas: second language acquisition,
bilingualism, L2 reading and writing, language assessment, classroom
discourse and interaction, materials preparation. Teaching load will
be 2/3 (one of these courses will be a graduate seminar in the
visitor’s area of specialization). The successful candidate will be
expected to contribute to the professional and intellectual life of
the department and to work closely with graduate students. Ph.D. by
time of appointment preferred. Competitive salary; relocation/
conference travel allowance; and department-funded graduate assistant.
Applicants should provide a CV, a representative research sample,
evidence of teaching ability, and two to three letters of
recommendation. These should be submitted together in one mail
package. We will begin reviewing application materials on February
20, 2007. Review of applications will continue until the position is
filled.
