         The Language and Culture Research Center of Macao (CELC) was
jointly established by in 2009 by Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI),
Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) and the Institute of
Applied Linguistics (IAL) of the Ministry of Education.
        Following the success of our firs conference on language
contact in 2009, CELC will be hosting another conference "Macao
Language Planning and Language Policy" from 24th to 25th November,
2010 to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Centre.
        The main theme of the conference is Macao Language Planning
and Language Policy.
       Under this theme, the conference welcomes papers that
address,but are not limited to, the following research topic:
                  	 a) Language policy making and implementation in
multicultural language contexts.
b) The spirit of "One country two systems" and the language planning
and policy in the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and
Macao.
c) Multilanguage competition and building of a harmonious society.
d) Cultural tension and linguistic vitality.
e) Relationship between formal and infromal language use in multingual
societies.

The Conference schedule as below:

23rd November 2010: Registration (in the afternoon) for participants
from overseas.
24th November 2010: -Morning: Opening Ceremony and keynote speeches.
                                    Afternoon: Presentation of papers
25th November 2010: -Morning: Presentation of Papers and Closing Ceremony.
                                    Afternoon: Macao cultural tour.
26th  November 2010: Departure.

Deadline for submission: October 29th 2010
