Yesterday at 20:04 | Interfax-Ukraine A state language policy strategy
proposed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko is aimed at
destroying regional languages, first and foremost, Russian, Regions
Party and Head of the Russian-Language Ukraine human rights public
organization Vadym Kolesnichenko has said.

"The president yesterday [on February 22] signed a decree approving a
state language policy strategy that is [strongly] criticized in
Ukraine and by international and European agencies... In this case,
President Yuschenko served as a political figure oriented at his
radical voters, rather than a guarantor of human rights and freedoms,"
he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.
