This in itself is an interesting development in terms of language

...insofar as it's part-funded by the Gaelic Language Act Implementation 
Fund: http://goo.gl/yv5o3

Scotland has been ramping up its efforts to fund research and education 
efforts for Gaelic.

Generally it does interest me the way that language policymakers look to 
academia to pursue pre-determined goals, and also the way academia 
responds. Hmm...
