Description:
The Department of English Linguistics at the University of Mannheim
(Germany) offers
one 0.5 doctoral/PhD positions in the Psycholinguistics of Multilingualism
The position is at the rank of "Akademische Mitarbeiter" (TV-L E13, 50%)
for three years, including an evaluation of progress at the end of the first
year. The salary ranges from 20k to 23k per year depending on the
applicant's experience.
We are looking for a candidate with a background and interest in the
psycholinguistics of multilingualism.
The department has experimental facilities including reaction-time
computers as well as stationary and remote eyetrackers. Further

In addition to pursuing the PhD project, the successful candidate will teach
two English-language 90-minute seminar courses in each 14-week
semester in areas related to the dissertation project.
Applicants should
- have an excellent MA degree or equivalent in hand in a subject related to
the PhD project
- have advanced German and English skills
- demonstrable teaching experience
Applications should include a CV, copies of all previous degrees including
detailed transcripts of records, a letter of motivation, two academic letters of
reference (one from the supervisor of the BA/MA thesis or equivalent), a
copy of your MA thesis or equivalent as well as a research proposal for the
dissertation project in the relevant areas including a time schedule (five A4
pages max.).
Applications received by October 15, 2012 will receive full consideration,
although interviews may start at any time and will continue until the positions
have been filled.
