Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration has decided to
implement a 5 year scheme to impose a National Language policy.

Minister Vasudewa Nanayakkara said that the objective of the scheme is to
create a bilingual social environment, and establish national harmony among
the communities.

He said that the National Language commission will make a huge impact on
both public and private sector to use both languages effectively and
beneficially.

It has been planned to select government and private institutions
separately and then implement the National Language policy step by step on
them while identifying the necessities and weaknesses prevailing in the
institutions.(niz)
