Minister Wasudeva Nanayakkara says the public officials must be prepared to
implement the National Language Policy in the most correct manner as the
government is prepared to setup the northern provincial council soon.
Implementing the national language policy is not a general duty, but a
specific task to unite the nation.
Sinhala and Tamil Languages have been officiated as the state languages in
Sri Lanka. Government officials should implement the language policy in the
most equal manner without discriminating any ethnic group. They should act
in a manner to enhance solidarity and unity among the ethnic groups. The
minister made these remarks today at a special seminar held in Colombo to
launch the manual of guidelines for the state institutions in connection
with planning National Language Policy.
