The selected proceedings of the second National LCNAU Colloquium held in Canberra Australia are now available.

The Languages and Cultures Network for Australian Universities (LCNAU) is Australia’s only national organization to support language teaching and research in Australia’s university sector.
The new proceedings are almost twice the size of the preceding volume published in 2012, and the range of papers is testimony to the vitality of the field and the commitment of colleagues from all over Australia to their work in ensuring the best possible outcomes for their students in the languages and cultures field.

One important dimension of this new anthology is the increased participation of colleagues working in Asian languages. More than a third of the published work has a specific Asia focus, and a number of other articles give prominence to Asia-related issues (an increase of 12-15% over the previous volume). This would seem to indicate that growing numbers of colleagues in the field of Asian languages and cultures see the benefit of working within the framework provided by LCNAU, part of which is predicated on the research-based conviction that the defence and promotion of all languages provides the best context for each language area to thrive.
