Applications are invited for a tenure track position in Anthropology at the
Assistant Professor level, beginning July 1, 2001.

The department seeks to hire a linguistic
anthropologist/sociolinguist  with expertise in Canadian First Nations'
languages addressing issues such as language contact and change, language
and ethnicity, language typologies, language policy, and the ethnography of
communication. Priority will be given to an individual with expertise in a
language family in British Columbia who can complement teaching and
research in cultural anthropology and work collaboratively with First
Nations communities. The successful candidate will have a PhD in
Anthropology and posses a superior teaching, research and publication record.
