transcribing digitized recordings

In response to the query about transcribing from micro-diskettes:

Sony corporation usually makes some sort of "companion" product for their
recorders, for secretarial transcription. They tend to be expensive, but
they are hardy, they work well, and for those of us whose technological
sophistication is limited to "plug it in and go" they are a dream come
true (they can also be used in the field, which is nice, if your field
research site is lacking in technological development):

Here's an example, or fish around on www.sonystyle.com (note, I am not
taking kickbacks from Sony -- they are simply the only easy access company
I have found to fulfill my recording and transcribing needs).

Note also, one could make back up cassette tapes of mini-disks and use
those in a regular transcriber.

Does anyone know if there might be a "welcome to internet technologies"
training seminar for for luddite linguistic anthropologists? I'd love to
know how to post sounds on my web page, for that matter, I'd love to gain
enough knowledge to know how to evaluate the utility of various software
and hardware in order to store, analyze, and otherwise manipulate my field
data.
