Dear Colleagues,
Good morning and Happy Friday!
I'm currently working on a white paper for the design thinking firm I work
for, this one dealing with transnational youth in Generation Z (people born
after 1998, who would currently be youth now but entering the workforce in
many countries by the end of the decade). Does anyone know of any recent
scholarship on transnational youth experiences, especially those that use
multi-sited ethnography, digital/computer-mediated communication contexts,
and take critical perspectives on power, resistance, and appropriation in
the creation of youth styles? I'm especially interested in work that has a
linguistic anthropological perspective to it, as design thinking has
historically been dominated by sociocultural anthropologists and I'm
looking to push boundaries on our thinking.
If anyone has any leads on this topic (including your current grad students
who may be working on these issues in a thesis or dissertation), please
respond to me offline at nadumas at ucsc.edu. In the meanwhile, good luck to
everyone on their current projects, teaching, and service.
Be well,
Nate
