Hi all,

See below for a list of the articles suggested on 2nd language speakers' usage of colloquial register. Thanks to Linnea Hanell, Piers Kelly, and Laura Miller for their contributions!

Thanks again!

Subject: Resources on 2nd language speakers' usage of colloquial register?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone recommend any work on 2nd language speakers' usage of colloquial register? I'm particularly interested in how 2nd language speakers' use of slang, non-standard pronunciation/grammar, etc. is perceived by native speakers, but any related literature is welcome.

Feel free to respond directly to sdubois at umail.ucsb.edu, and I'll be sure to send out a summary of whatever suggestions I receive.

Thanks in advance!
