Anthropology
Location: Austin, TX
Open Date: Sep 25, 2018
Deadline: Nov 15, 2018 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
Description
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin invites
applications for two faculty positions in anthropology and Native American
and Indigenous Studies, to start in Fall 2019. One position is designated
for an assistant professor, the other is open rank. Applicants with a focus
in sociocultural anthropology, or socioculturally-informed applicants from
the other subfields of anthropology, will be considered. Applicants from
related disciplines are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidates
will show evidence of scholarly excellence commensurate with rank, of
accomplished teaching, and of active engagement with Native American and/or
Indigenous peoples, thought, politics, and cultures.
We conceive of the field of Native American and Indigenous Studies broadly,
in terms of both geography and identity, and we are especially interested
in work that critically engages these very definitional questions both
theoretically and empirically. The new members of our faculty will join a
vibrant anthropology department, and will be encouraged to actively
participate in the process of building the interdisciplinary Native
American and Indigenous Studies Program at the University of Texas at
Austin.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by August 20th, 2019 and a reputation
of high quality research and scholarly production as well as a demonstrated
record of teaching excellence.
Application Instructions
Please submit a cover letter detailing research and teaching expertise, a
C.V., a recent publication or representative sample of current scholarship,
