The latest issue of Québec Studies is now available online.
Liverpool University Press is pleased to inform you of the latest content in QUÉBEC STUDIES<https://www.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/journal/qs>, a highly regarded publication that is essential reading for those working in and researching all aspects of Québec society and Francophone Canadian culture.
In the absence of a special dossier, Volume 76 serendipitously offers three articles all related to media studies in and about Québec and francophone North America. Jacob Albert and Susan Pinette describe for us a significant, recently completed project that catalogs Franco-American newspapers published in New England. Pierre-Olivier Bouchard then examines how the long-running American magazine of scientific vulgarization, National Geographic, depicts Québec in several articles from the 1930s. Finally, Miléna Santoro asks (and answers) a pertinent question in her consideration of “Does it Matter Who Directs the Story? Comparing Québec’s Immigrant Cinema and the Cinema of Immigration Through Case Studies of Karaman and Deraspe, Villeneuve, and Bensaddek.” This issue also includes two analyses of contemporary literary works: Nadra Hebouche’s examination of a developing ecofeminist ethics in Louis Hamelin’s 2016 novel Autour d’Éva and Michèle A. Schaal’s application of the concept of “liquid modernity” to the first Québec-set novel of Claire Legendre, Bermudes (2020).
