Dear all,

      We are excited to announce that we will be holding the Seventh Annual Tulane Conference of Linguistics, or T-CoL, on March 15th, 2025 from 10 am-5 pm. Our theme this year is “Making Language Material”.


As spoken, signed, and invented languages move from discourse to physically recorded, many decisions are made. Additionally, over time, writing systems can change drastically for a variety of reasons including technological innovations, outside influence, and underlying language changes. Regardless of the fluctuation of a writing script, it does systematize certain cultural aspects, including education, access to literacy, and transmission of knowledge.


As such, we have a very exciting list of speakers this year, culminating in our keynote speaker, Amy George, presenting her paper "On This Earth Here: Mapping the Universe Across Time, Space, and Languages".


As always, attendance at the conference is completely free. You can either attend in person in Freeman Auditorium, Woldenberg Art Center Room 205, or on Zoom, the link to which will be provided to those who register under our Zoom option.

The deadline to register your attendance is by March 8th, 2025. We know this will be another great year for T-CoL and we look forward to seeing all of our speakers and participants in Freeman Auditorium or on Zoom on March 15th.
