*Panel description*

This roundtable explores collaboration as a vital transformative praxis
through which we can live into more fully human relationships and work
together to respond to the compounding crises of this historical moment. We
will need to be able to work together if we are to survive, and yet the
individualism that is the hallmark of our field, our institutions, and our
society at large has left many of us without the skills needed to build and
sustain collaborative projects.

This roundtable aims to increase our capacity for collective work by
bringing together participants with experience in carrying out a variety of
collaborative projects: research partnerships with communities,
collaborations with undergraduate and graduate students, and collective
projects with colleagues in anthropology and in other disciplines.
Participants will discuss the different models and frameworks they have
used in these projects, and the values that undergird these approaches. In
addition, participants will explain how they enact these models through
concrete practices, providing insights into strategies for collaboration
that we can use in many aspects of our lives, within and beyond the
university. Ultimately, we will consider what it is that we accomplish
through collaboration, exceeding the specific goals of any given project to
explore how collaboration can construct more liberatory forms of
relationship and thereby contribute to building a more just world.
