The Department of Linguistics at Stockholm University invites
applications for
"A University lecturer in General linguistics" (ref nr 612-2782-09)
Main tasks
The successful candidate shall initiate and carry out research within
linguistic typology, which is a main area within the department’s
research profile, as well as develop and carry out courses in General
Linguistics and supervise students on various levels. The successful
candidate is expected to take on administrative tasks within the
department.
Qualification requirements
The successful candidate for this position must have a PhD or a
documented scientific competence equivalent to a PhD. The candidate
must have completed the university’s mandatory pedagogical course or
have acquired equivalent knowledge elsewhere, and must possess
documented pedagogical experience.
Basis for assessment
Demonstrated scientific expertise by way of documented research and
proven pedagogical success in instruction and supervision will be of
equal importance as evaluation criteria. Demonstrated competence
within the field of linguistic typology is a necessary requirement.
Documented experience of successful grant applications to external
funding agencies is vital. The candidate’s administrative skills,
ability to interact with the surrounding community and inform
interested parties in the areas of research and development efforts,
as well as a proven track record of ability to cooperate in research
and instruction will also be of utmost importance for this position.
Additional information
Applicants who do not have a command of Swedish by the time of
application must, in a couple of years, be prepared to accept
administrative and educational working tasks which require
understanding of Swedish.

Candidates who have a competence at the level of Professor can apply
