Dear Typologists,

For those who will be in Paris the next few days, this is a short
announcement about the following one-day conference:

The Final Symposium for the ERC project SINOTYPE "The Hybrid Syntactic
Typology of Sinitic Languages" will be held on Wednesday 26 June. There
will be talks by the seven members of the ERC SINOTYPE project, each on a
relatively unknown or little described Sinitic language, all of which
diverge, some in quite spectacular ways, from standard Mandarin. In
addition, there will be a talk by Shanshan Lü on the recently discovered
Caijia language in Guizhou province, and invited talks by: a) Redouane
Djamouri on modal particles in the mixed language of Tangwang in Gansu
(Mandarin & Mongolic); and b) Christine Lamarre on the stativizing suffixes
for posture and placement verbs in Sinitic languages. Attached to this
e-mail is a preliminary programme of the symposium.

Following our symposium, the 26èmes Journées de Linguistique d'Asie
Orientale / Paris Meeting on East Asian Linguistics is held on Thursday 27
June and Friday 28 June. The invited speakers are Rint Sybesma and Laurent
Sagart.

Both events are to be held at 105 Boulevard Raspail, 75006 Paris. You are
cordially invited to them both.

Yours sincerely,
Hilario de Sousa and Sing Sing Ngai, on behalf of Hilary Chappell and the
rest of the SINOTYPE team
