Dear colleagues,

The French research unit SeDyL (Structure et Dynamique des Langues; https://sedyl.cnrs.fr/index.php<https://webmail.cnrs.fr/owa/redir.aspx?C=ylietojVa4bNxjEHPxGjcgn5yr0A8k77tR7JCsnZ4ykjvYI21ZrYCA..&URL=https%3a%2f%2fsedyl.cnrs.fr%2findex.php>) is interested in supporting applications for permanent researcher positions at the CNRS in France.

The SeDyL is a research unit which operates under the aegis of three institutions: the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS); the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO); and the Research Institute for Development (IRD). SeDyL’s lines of inquiry in Linguistics include language description and documentation, linguistic typology (syntax, morphology, discourse), historical linguistics and sociolinguistics. The SeDyL has 47 staff members and it runs a number of research projects in different regions including the Americas, West-Asia, the Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The SeDyL seeks to support early career applicants with an outstanding research profile and who intend to submit a project fitting with the lab’s research strands (https://sedyl.cnrs.fr/recherches.php?langue=en&type=axe<https://webmail.cnrs.fr/owa/redir.aspx?C=-sOGwHekQHuJfkSxw-Cli0GMbnZe5Lv9Mqh-ELZXAucjvYI21ZrYCA..&URL=https%3a%2f%2fsedyl.cnrs.fr%2frecherches.php%3flangue%3den%26type%3daxe>). Applicants must hold a PhD in linguistics by the application deadline. The selection process at the CNRS is highly competitive. This year there are 4 places at early career level (Associate scientist or "Chargé de recherche"). It is advisable to have publications in prestigious journals as well as to be part of an international research project, most often through a post-doc position.

In order to apply, applicants are invited to choose one or more CNRS research units (called research laboratories) where they would like to carry out their research.

The official call for application is now published online (http://www.dgdr.cnrs.fr/drhchercheurs/concoursch/default-en.htm).

Deadline: January 7, 2021.

Applicants who wish their application to the CNRS supported by the SeDyL are invited to contact us with their CV and a project proposal.

Best wishes,

Sophie Vassilaki, Head (sophie.vassilaki at inalco.fr<https://webmail.cnrs.fr/owa/redir.aspx?C=Yp2azi70TqdXQ_RWtJWbc-if5AfKc5w6EVzSnnejfPYjvYI21ZrYCA..&URL=mailto%3asophie.vassilaki%40inalco.fr>)
