[Lingtyp] ‘Ostensive’ use of a goal case

Dear Joanna,



thanks for your reply. I fail to see a close semantic resemblance though
between the finite use I am interested in and the non-finite use you
describe, except that they are both plausible extensions of the goal case.
So I’m actually looking for cross-linguistic parallels supporting the idea
that there is a more direct path leading from ‘goal case’ to ‘ostensive’,
without a detour via ‘topic’ or another function.
