The *Linguistic Convergence Laboratory, HSE University *(
https://ilcl.hse.ru/en/), in Moscow, Russia, invites applications for
postdoctoral research positions in the field of language contact; language
corpora; linguistic typology; instrumental phonetics; field linguistics;
NLP for low-resource languages; languages of the Caucasus; languages of
Russia.

*Requirements*
The general requirements for the postdoctoral fellowship positions are the
following:
● Candidates must hold a recent PhD in the field of linguistics;
Caucaseology; linguistic typology; Slavic languages; instrumental
phonetics; research involving statistical analysis of language data;
computer science or related areas which was awarded over the last 5 years
or received before starting work at HSE in a relevant field by an
internationally recognized university and has been assessed by external
reviewers as having the potential to pursue research that is publishable in
leading peer-reviewed journals;
● Candidates should have ability to work in team;
● Fluent English is an obligatory condition as research and other
activities are conducted in English. Knowledge of Russian is not required;
● Visible publications in the field are a desideratum.

*The position involves*:
● participants are encouraged to pursue their own research in parallel with
working on Linguistic Convergence Laboratory research projects in the field
of language variation; language contact; functional typology; instrumental
phonetics; and corpus linguistics;
● writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in
co-authorship with the members of the Lab;
● participating in field research (not required);
● participating in organization of academic events and otherwise
contributing to increasing the Lab’s visibility;
● presentations of the successful candidate’s own research to the
researchers in the field and to the academic community broadly speaking;

● teaching courses of expertise to HSE students is welcome, although not
required.

The Lab offers access to its databases and electronic resources, and
provides the postdoc with a working desk in the office Lab.

*Conditions*
Appointments are made for one year. Postdoctoral fellows have an
opportunity to renew the contract (no more than two times) in case of
outstanding performance.
HSE University offers postdoctoral fellows a competitive salary, a standard
medical insurance plan; a working space equipped with a computer and free
Internet access at the University.
The Lab/centre offers access to its databases and corpora.

Applications must be submitted online. Please provide a CV, a statement of
research interest and a recent research paper submitted via the online
application form. At least two letters of recommendation should be sent
directly to the International Faculty Recruitment Office at
fellowship at hse.ru before the application deadline. Please note that direct
