[Lingtyp] The future of linguistics

Hi all,

I have a couple of broad survey questions concerning the future of
linguistics and the need for linguistics books:

1. Where do you think linguistics is headed over the next 10-20 years?

2. What kind of monographs, textbooks, and handbooks do you feel need to be
written to anticipate the changes that are coming, or that will capture the
most interesting current research, or will enable the next generation of
linguists to do great work?
