Dear Colleagues,
The Fifteenth Meeting of the Association for Linguistic Typology was to be hosted by Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai, China from November 8 to 10, 2024. Regrettably, due to the fact that Randy LaPolla, who worked at Beijing Normal University and who would be crucial for the organization of the conference, has now left China, organizing the conference at the Zhuhai campus was judged too risky.
Fortunately, Alec Coupe of the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore came to the rescue. He has secured funding, he has dealt with the relevant organizational issues and we can now announce that ALT XV will take place at Nanyang Technological University. The dates have to be changed to give some time to the new organizers to deal with a number of procedures.
The conference will run from Wednesday, December 4 to Friday, December 6, 2024. The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to Monday, April 15, 2024. Further information about the conference will be posted on its website <https://sites.google.com/view/alt2024> as it becomes available and likewise also on this list.
We realize this change is highly unexpected and unfortunate. The biannual conference is a major activity of our organization and it cannot be stressed enough that ALT is most grateful to Alec for his fast and very efficient action. We hope to see many of you in Singapore.
Best wishes,
Johan van der Auwera, ALT President
Ljuba Veselinova, ALT Secretary and Conference manager
