[Lingtyp] Demonstratives as nominalizers

Dear Zahid,

in a recent paper, Merlijn Breunesse and I proposed a typology of  
demonstrative clause linkers that includes "linking and nominalizing  
articles" as one type. In that paper, we refer to a number of  
languages in which demonstratives can be analyzed as clausal  
nominalizers and also discuss several pathways of  
grammaticalicalization whereby demonstratives develop into linking  
articles and nominalizers (based on earlier proposals by Schuh 1983,  
1990, Hetzron 1995, Deutscher 2001 and others). Here is the link to
