[Lingtyp] John Haiman

Dear Colleagues,

it is with great sadness that I have to communicate the passing of John Haiman. His children contacted me this morning with a request to notify typologists. An obituary by Chris Wolfart is attached.

John Haiman's work has given guidance and inspiration to many of us. To me, he is and will remain among the most influential figures in modern linguistics.
