NLPRS '95 - CALL FOR PAPER
Third Natural Language Processing
Pacific-Rim Symposium
Seoul, Korea
December 4-6, 1995
NLPRS'95, which will be held from December 4-6, 1995 in Seoul, Korea, is
the third forums to bring together NLP researchers in the Pacific-Rim area
for scientific exchange and presentation. The program will include
tutorials, invited talks, and demonstrations as well as tracks for paper and
video presentations.
NLPRS95 is organized jointly by:
SIG-KLC(Korean Language Computing) of
KISS (Korean Information Science Society)
SIG-NLP of IPSJ (Information Processing Society of Japan)
In cooperation with
The Linguistic Society of Korea
The Korean Society for Cognitive Science
TOPICS OF INTEREST: Submissions are solicited on original and previously
unpublished research in all aspects of NLP, including, but not limited to:
phonetics generation
phonology parsing
morphology machine(-aided)translation
syntax linguistic models of natural language
semantics natural language interface and dialog systems
pragmatics language-oriented information retrieval
discourse corpus-based language modelling
PAPER SUBMISSION: Papers of no longer than 6 pages in the double-column
conference format should be submitted by 20th June, 1995. We strongly
encourage papers to be electronically submitted. In this case, they should
be in either LaTeX format or plain text, and should be emailed to :

SUMMARY
Programme will consist of plenary sessions and parallel sessions.
In addition, two workshops will be held: one on L.2 lexical
acquisiton/processing research and one on variation approaches to
SLA. These workshops will be on Monday 11th September. The
workshop on lexical acquisition will be organised by David
Singleton, and the variation workshop will be organised by
Richard Young and Bob Bayley.
Principal speakers at the conference are:
Dr. David Singleton, "First catch your lexicon: the tribulations
of the L2 vocabulary acquisition researcher".
Dr. Shana Poplack, "On the frontier between code-switching and
borrowing".
Dr. Teresa Pica, "Learner needs, learning processes and language
outcomes: an interactionist perspective on Second Language
Acquistion".

Registration Fees:
Participants: IRL65 (before 10/9/95); IRL75 (after 10/8/95)
Registration fee includes: Admission to opening ceremony,
Government Reception, all Scientific Sessions, the Eurosla General
Assembly and daily coffee and tea-breaks, conference badge,
abstracts and Final Programme.
Payment of Fees:
Complete Registration/Accommodation Booking Forms should be
returned before 10th August 1995 with full payment. Payment must
be made in IRISH POUNDS by Bankers Draft drawn on an Irish Bank
and made payable to "Eurosla '95". Drafts may be drawn on any
Irish Bank (e.g., Allied Irish Bank, Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank,
National Irish Bank).
All participants, including presenters, will be required to pay
Registration Fees and complete the Application Form.
Accomodation:
Accomodation is available in University College Dublin Campus.
This new residential accommodation is a superior development of
self-contained apartments, modern in design and tastefully
decorated. Each apartment has 3 or 4 single bedrooms, bathroom,
shower room and a fully equipped dining room/kitchen. These
bedrooms can be booked for single accommodation and couples will be
accomodated in adjacent single rooms. Breakfast is served in the
Main College Restaurant.
Accommodation is also available in the Montrose Hotel which is
situated approximately five minutes from the University and twenty
five minutes from the city centre.
Similarly, twin and single rooms are available in the Berkeley
Court Hotel, located ten minutes from the city centre and twenty
minutes from the University.
Participants are advised to book early as September is a very busy
month in Dublin.
N.B. Faxed bookings cannot be processed until payment is received
by the Registration Secretariat.
Lunches:
Lunches are available in University College Dublin and the cost is
not included in the Registration Fee. The cost is IRL6 per person.
These may be pre-booked on the Registration Form. A light
sandwich is also available in Finnegans Break, Arts Building, UCD.
Insurance:
The Organising Committee will not be responsible for any medical
expenses, loss or accidents during the Conference and we recommend
that participants insure themselves in this respect.
Cancellations:
Refunds on Registrations/Accommodations are applicable as follows:
Before the 10th August: 75 percent Refund
After the 10th August: No Refund
