Subject: Foreign accent -- judges needed for many languages
As part of a research project investigating some phonetic aspects of
foreign accent, I am seeking informants with phonetic training who would
be willing to act as judges of foreign accent.
Judges will be asked to listen to many words and phrases in their native
language and be asked to rate degree of accent, and to describe
if/where/why accent is heard.
I seek judges who are native speakers of the following languages or
regional varieties:
> British English, American English, Australian English
> French (of France only)
> German (hauptsa"chlich fu"r den bundesdeutschen Sprachraum)
> Swedish
> Danish
> Finnish
> Russian
> Japanese
> Mandarin
It is preferable that judges are good at identifying regional varieties
of their L1.
If you are interested in helping me, or would like to know more, please
contact me before November 15, and I will send you further details.
