Macmillan Publishers Ltd. (London)/Stockton Press (New York) is considering
publishing, in both book and CD ROM formats, a comprehensive reference work
that will examine the different varieties of English as they are spoken
throughout the world. We would like to conduct a survey to help us assess
the linguistic community's views of such a work, and would be interested in
hearing from individuals with an interest in this subject area, who would
be willing to complete a survey. If you would like to take part in this
survey please contact Charles Regan at cregan at grovestocktn.com. Thank you.

Dear members,
Could anybody help me with information about where to find a computerized
version of the Francis & Kucera word frequency count or any other reliable
frequency count for English?
Many thanks!

I am interested in learning more about the distribution of the voiced
velar fricative [gamma] in Russian. It is not clear to me whether it is
an allophone of [g] or of [x]. Any information or references would be
greatly appreciated.
