Subject: TEMPORARY OPENING--ENGLISH LINGUISTICS
FOR THE FALL SEMESTER ONLY, we are looking for someone with Ph.D. in
hand, or ABD, to teach the following three courses:
English 324: Structure of English for Teachers. Survey of English
phonology, morphology, syntax, with attention to traditional problems
of English grammar. For bright undergrad English Education majors.
English 329: Structure of English. Basically an introduction to
English syntax.
The text currently being used in this course is Burton-Roberts,
ANALYZING SENTENCES. Longman. Audience will be beginning MA
students, plus upper division undergrads and some special students
(i.e. adult returnees).
English 334: ESL: Theory and Practice. A `ESL Methods' course,
including responsibility for arranging student observations of ESL
classes in the Madison area. Mixture of beginning MA students, upper
division undergrads, and specials.
Position will be LECTURER. Minimum salary $29,250 per academic year,
depending on qualifications. Start 8/26/96. End 1/9/97.
