                 Job Opportunities at Oxford University
   	       Oxford Text Archive - Humanities Computing Unit
 
Following selection of the Oxford Text Archive as Service Provider for
Electronic Textual Resources by the nationally-funded Arts and
Humanities Data Service, we are now trying to fill a number of
exciting new jobs. We're looking for energetic and enthusiastic
electronic text specialists with a range of skills. TEI-hackers,
corpus-lovers, UNIX-fiends, SGML-junkies, and computing humanists of
all flavours are particularly welcome. If you like working in a
research support environment, and think you have something to
contribute to our work, we'd like to hear from you.
 
The jobs currently on offer include:
 
- Head of Oxford Text Archive [up to GBP 26,340]: a senior managerial post
  responsible for the future development of the OTA
- Computing Officer [up to GBP 18,294] : a software development post
  responsible for enhancing our online services
- Resource Development Officer [up to GBP 18,294] : a joint appointment
  with the University English faculty, responsible for promoting use of
  digital resources (in particular the British National Corpus)

Two Tenure-Track Positions Available at the Department of Foreign
Languages and Literature of National Sun Yat-Sen University
 
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at National Sun
Yat-Sen University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan has two full-time faculty
positions available starting August 1, 1996.  Applicants must have a
Ph.D. degree in Computational linguistics, Sociolinguistics, or
Psycholinguistics.  Being able to teach graduate students the
course--the History of the English language, is an advantage, but it
