Dear fellow LINGUISTs,
 
I am in the middle of a paper on metaphors in the development of
complex sentences and would like to see an unpublished manuscript by
Ger P.  REESINK called
 
"Grammaticalization of Some Clausal Conjunctions in Papuan Languages."
 
This paper is a revised version of a lecture (originally called
"Discourse is Space: the Grammaticalization of Metaphor in Papuan
Clause Marking") at the 1988 Oregon Grammaticalization Symposium which
never made it into the ensuing two-vol. collection (Benjamins 1991).
 
The editors of the collection, Elizabeth Traugott and Bernd Heine,
have declared unable to help. I wonder: Is there anyone out there who
either has the above-named paper in their collection and would be
willing to share their copy with me, or can help me locate Ger
Reesink, so I can get in touch with him (or her)?

Subject:  FIRST DICTIONARY & GRAMMAR
 
I have been trying to find out the following for ages.  Can someone
assist me?  What is the very first dictionary for any language ever
completed?  I do not mean glossary, nor do I refer to dictionaries
which the ancient Greeks did which did not survive.  The size of the
work is not important; rather, we must agree it is a dictionary.
 
I have the same question for the first grammar of any language
actually completed (in the conventional sense of what a descriptive
grammar/ historical grammar is).
 
I have looked in many reference books, but so far, no luck.  HELP,
linguists of the world!

I am currently researching the movement of NP's. Paying particluar
attention to the relationship with adjectives in Romance and Germanic
languages.  The material is rather thin on the ground. Any suggestions
