Few days ago I posted a query on the way of using greek characters on
the web. I received six replies (thank you to Rick Mc Callister, James
Kirchner, John E. Koontz, Stavros Macrakis, Rich Alderson, Jakob
Dempsey).
There are three possible ways:
1) transliteration;
2) displaying greek words as gif images;
3) using Adobe=92s Portable Document Format (PDF).
I also found very useful Stavros Macraki's paper "Character Codes for
Greek: Problems and Modern Solutions", available at
http://www.osf.org/~macrakis/greekalph/greek.html.
