We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Subject: British/American English
In a couple of weeks, I MUST deliver a lecture concerning the
differences between British and American english especially in
academic writing. I'm perusing the ERIC virtual library, and looking
at standard samples of such writing, but trying to come up with
general comparisons and differences of each has proved impossibly time
comsuming.
There must be some good material written on the subject. (I'm a
monkey's uncle otherwise!) If anyone in either or both (or neither)
of the subject countries can point me to written material concerning
this, I would appreciate it immensely!
Terveisin!

Dear linguists,
I am looking for the full form of the second name of the two linguists
Vladimir E. Orel (at Tel Aviv), and Olga V. Stolbova (at Moscow).
Many thanks for any help,

Subject: About questions
Dear listers,
My collegue, who is not on linguist, would need some information about
questions, and has asked me to put the following query on linguist:
I am young researcher studying doctor-patient interaction. At the
moment I am working on questions. I am particularly interested in the
connection between form and function of questions. Maybe someone on
linguist could give me some good literary pointers on this subject. My
data is in Swedish, but I am also interested in questions in other
languages.
With best regards,
