The Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University invites
applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor
level in the applied linguistics program. Applicants should have a PhD
in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics and an established record of
research and teaching involving L2 acquisition and classroom
practices. We are particularly interested in someone with a
demonstrated research program which considers innovative applications
of recent research to L2 pedagogy and L2 teacher education. The
six-member applied linguistics program resides in a large linguistics
department with established teaching and research connections with
applied linguists from a number of additional departments. Send letter
of application, c.v., representative publications, and names of three
referees to: Applied Linguistics Search Committee, Department of
Linguistics, Georgetown University, Washington, DC
20057-1051. Deadline for full consideration of applications is

Subject: French Applied Linguistics at Indiana University
Assistant Professorship in French Teaching Methodology and Applied
Linguistics
Beginning August 1998, this tenure track position will coordinate the
basic two-year French language program; directly supervise three
full-time course coordinators and be responsible for about 40 graduate
student instructors; and teach graduate courses in French teaching
methodology and applied French linguistics/second language acquisition
as well as undergraduate language courses. Preferred candidate will
have Ph.D. in applied French linguistics or second language
acquisition; experience in the coordination and supervision of
college-level French instruction; interest in using and developing
technology for language teaching; and near-native competence in
