We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

I'll be very grateful to everyone who shares the information or
references on the problem of using colour terms in the English and
American literature of the 19th-20th century (especially detective
stories). I'll readily share all the information and research results
I've already obtained on this problem. Please contact with me on the
following address: tavenk at hotmail.com

Dear Colleagues,
I am an associate prof. in linguistics, currently teaching at the
department of English/ Sultan Qaboos Univ., in OMAN. I am asked to teach
(in the Spring term) an undergraduate course in "Anthropological
linguistics" but I have little material for the course. In fact, I am
looking for a suitable text and/or a collection of articles, studies,
etc. which may fit. I will appreciate it if you can kindly provide me
with your suggestions, publications, or any relevant information. Thanks,
Hassan
