Subject: Definition of utterance
I am working on a paper relating to bilingualism and speech
production. I have set out to explore the effect of the dominant
language on the weaker language as seen in spontaneous speech
production. I have a body of transcribed materials which I am
currently analyzing and intend to compare the different types of
"errors" (syntactic, semantic, lexical, etc.) as a percent of the
total utterances produced. In this way I will be able to see
development over a period of time, and be able to compare data between
informants. So, what I really need is a working definition of
"utterance" or if you like "sentence" appropriate for the analysis
of spoken language.
If you can help me on this but need more information, don`t hesitate
to contact me.

Dear linguists:
I'm very interested in the Chinese EFL learning , esepecially in the
learnablity of syntactic construction. Information about such areas
will be of great help. Specifically,
1 Information about the tough construction
2 Information about any previous studies on TC in Chinese
or other languages
Discussion on this topic is also welcome.
Your help is appreciated! Thanks a lot!
