Subject:  Corpus Ling/Old English:Research Fellow at University of York, UK

Research Fellow in Old English Corpus Syntax

The department is seeking a second researcher to work on a project to
tag and parse an electronic corpus of Old English. The candidate will need a
background in syntax, a good knowledge of Old English, and strong
computer skills, preferably with a PhD in a relevant area of linguistics or
English studies.

The project is funded by a grant awarded to Professor Warner and Dr
Pintzuk by the English Arts and Humanities Research Board, and the principal
researcher is Dr Ann Taylor. The project will result in a tagged and parsed
corpus of 1.5 million words of Old English.

The post is available from 1 April 2000 for a period of 2 years in the
first instance, and the salary will be within the range GBP16,286 - GBP19,869
per annum.

The National Science Foundation is seeking qualified candidates for the
position of Director, Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences (BCS).
The BCS Division supports research and education in the psychological,
cognitive, linguistic, anthropological, and geographical sciences.
It includes a staff of approximately 20 employees and a FY 2000 budget of about
$45.33 million.
