The 12 papers in this volume were selected from those presented at the
1999 Conference on the L1 & L2 Acquisition of Spanish and Portuguese
held at Georgetown University in October 1999.  The papers are divided
into sections on bilingualism, reading, writing, phonology, and
morphosyntax.  The book includes an introduction by the volume
editors, and shows a range of current research being conducted in
Spanish applied linguistics.
