La estructura del párrafo de entrada de la noticia o lead

Este estudio se centra en uno de los elementos que componen la
estructura de una noticia en la prensa escrita: el lead. Una de las
propiedades distintivas del lead, el cual se corresponde con el primer
párrafo de la noticia, es resumir la información más relevante y
destacada de la noticia, además de caracterizarse por ser exacto y
conciso. Tal y como señala van Dijk (1986), el lead es la máxima
expresión de la estructura temática de la noticia. A través de la
propuesta de Bell (1991) para el estudio del lead, este trabajo ofrece
un análisis de la estructura discursiva y de la función del lead en
los diarios nacionales británicos, los cuales atienden a una variedad
de gustos e intereses. En este sentido, examinamos hasta qué punto
diferentes tipos de periódicos emplean distintos tipos de leads de
acuerdo con la preferencia de los lectores. El estudio analiza el
papel que desempeña el lead como micro-historia y concluye mostrando
que entender cómo funciona el lead es llegar a un entendimiento de la
propia naturaleza de la noticia (Bell, 1991).
