We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Subject: A language of Greek origin in Eastern Libya?
I recently heard from two Libyans that a language of Greek origin is still
spoken by bilinguals around the town of Susah (ancient Apollonia), on the
Mediterranean coast opposite to Crete. Given that no information whatsoever
about such a language is available on the Ethnologue, I was wondering whether
any colleague has any information on it.
Kind regards
Phoevos Panagiotidis

Dear Colleagues,
Our Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Chicago State
University is designing several courses in translation and
interpretation for English, French and Spanish both as source and
target languages. We would appreciate any information regarding
textbooks and other relevant literature. Particularly, we are
interested in methods that deal in business, legal and technical
translation. Thank you in advance,
Gaytan
