We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

I seem to remember that Henry Sweet is suppoosed to have said somewhere that
if we accept Indo-European, we're forced to accept some sort of relationship
between Indo-European and Fnno-Ugric, based on regularly occurring
similarities. Would anoyne have an exatc quote?
Thanks in advance,
Robert Orr

Subject: public-domain video corpora?
Hello, does anyone know of the existence of a publically-available video corpus
which could be used for language training? (aside from the American National
Corpus, which is not public and not video...) A variety of discourse contexts
would be suitable with speakers of American English, although I would especially
like to find video clips of speakers in business situations.
Many thanks
