We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was

would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Hello my colleagues,
I am going to do my new research on German verbology. I am looking
forreferencies for studies on compound verbs. I call them in German
"Verben mit trennbaren und untrennbaren Vorsilben". For example:
verteilen, vorteilen, mitteilen, austeilen,
beiteilen//übergehen,übersetzen,überqueren,überrieseln etc. I
am specially interested in their composition in syntactic and semantic
frameworks, and in differences between their senses with differents
"Vorsilben" and also without them.
I would be happy for your help.

Dear LINGUIST members,
A student of mine and I are interested in sound
symbolism (onomatopoeia) in Chinese (especially
Mandarin). We would be grateful if you point us
to any work on this topic (whether written in
Chinese, English, Japanese or any language).
Please reply directly to me at:

Thank you.
