III ieme JOURNEES d'ETUDES LINGUISTIQUES NANTES (FRANCE)
III rd LINGUISTIC STUDIES WORKSHOP NANTES (FRANCE)
21-22-23 Mars / March 2002
"UNIVERSAUX SONORES" / "SOUND UNIVERSALS"
*THEMES / TOPICS

The Korean Society of Language and Information is pleased to announce
that the 16th Pacific Asia Conference on Language, Information and
Computation (PACLIC 16) will be held at Jeju Island, Korea, on January
31- February 2, 2002. The conference is an annual meeting of scholars
in theoreticaland computational linguistics from the Pacific Asia
region. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for recent
work in various areas of linguistics and is to bring together
researchers from va rious active areas in theoretical and
computational linguistics. (The conference site Jeju, sometim es
romanized as Cheju, is an island located south of the Korean peninsula
and enjoys a semi-tropica l climate and a culture of its own. It is
known as the Isle of Gods and often called Hawaii of Kore a. Right
after the conference, the Island will also host World Cup 2002.)
Extended abstracts are invited on unpublished research on all aspects
of both theoretical and computational linguistics, including, but not
limited to: morphology, phonology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics,
discourse analysis, typology, corpus linguistics, formal grammar
theory, natural language processing, natural language systems and
related computer applications.
Abstracts should at least be 6 A4 pages long (about 1,500 words),
using 11pt fonts and double line spacing throughout, with the title of
the paper, the name(s) of the author(s), affiliation(s), postal
address, and e-mail address for correspondence on a separate page.
Accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings. A
