We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Dear All
I need some advice on how to create a corpus which
contains L2 learners' language. I have done some
research and found out that most of the programmes
available online are either used with Macintosh or are
not free or are too big for my small project (to start
with, that is). I have found some useful websites
related to this but the problem is they use some very
sophisticated programmes that I cannot afford.
Thank you

Does anyone know a good tutorial for the CLAN and CHAT database? I
don't really understand its use, I've downloaded some speech samples
from CHILDES, but now I need to analyse the data and don't know
how. How, for example can I measure MLU increasing processes? If
anyone could give me some hints and tips concerning chat or clan, or
knows a good webpage where all this stuff is explained to a beginner,
I would be appreciate...
Christian Schmeer
