ANNOUNCEMENT OF TEACHING POSITION
European and American Studies I (English) at Tokyo University of
Foreign Studies is inviting applications for the following position:
Academic rank and the number of openings: Visiting Associate
Professor or Foreign Instructor; one opening.
Position: European and American Studies I (English), Faculty of
Foreign Studies
Teaching responsibilities: Eight undergraduate courses (12 contact
hours) including the following:
(1) English as a major foreign language for 1st and/or
2nd-year students
(2) Oral and written English expression
(3) English as a minor foreign language
(4) English for prospective teachers
Field of specialization: Preferably, TEFL or English composition
Qualifications:
(1) Completion of a Ph.D course or equivalent research experience
(2) A native speaker of English of age 35 to 45 at the time of
employment. Some proficiency in Japanese would be desirable.
Duration of employment: April 1, 2004 through March 31, 2006, with
the possibility of one renewal.

(1) One copy of curriculum vitae
(2) One copy of list of publications
(3) Three major publications (not in any bound format but in a
one-sided A 4-sized Xeroxed copy format)
(4) One English description of research agenda of up to 1,000 words
(5) One sample syllabus for a prospective course entitled
Academic Writing
