The Institute of Foreign Language Education and Research, Kansai
University invites applications for a tenured appointment at the rank
of either an Associate Professor or an Instructor/Lecturer. Primary
teaching responsibilities will be in undergraduate English language
courses with some other teaching in related fields. Job commences
April 1st, 2003. Applicants must have a PhD in a related field, or
must have completed the coursework requirements of a doctorate course
in a related field at a Japanese university, or must have demonstrable
excellence in research to an equivalent level in a related field. An
emphasis in one of the following areas is desirable: TESOL, ESP,
lexicography, corpus linguistics, sociolinguistics. The qualified
applicant must also have high level proficiency in both English and
Japanese. Closing date for applications is July 5, 2002. Application

(1) A current curriculum vitae including a full list of publications

publications. Short-listed applicants of the second screening will be
interviewed at Kansai University in late September 2002. Additional
