The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.
Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.
This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

Description:
The Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science at Pomona College
invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in linguistics at
the Assistant Professor level, effective July 2003. Candidates should
have a commitment to undergraduate teaching in a small, nationally
ranked liberal-arts college where there is an emphasis on both
high-quality instruction and research.
The research specialization is left open. Candidates should have a
teaching interest in cross-linguistic variation, first-language
acquisition, morphology, or field methods. Candidates will also be
expected to contribute to core courses in syntax, semantics,
phonetics, or phonology, and to the introductory course in
linguistics.
The candidate should have a broad intellectual engagement with the
field of linguistics and be interested in relating his/her research to
cognate fields. He or she will be part of an active linguistics and
cognitive science research group. Preference will be given to
candidates who will have finished the PhD and who have teaching
experience.
