Description:
An Australian University is seeking an Executive Dean for its School
of International Communication and Languages. In this management and
research-focused role, the successful candidate will oversee and
provide leadership for all academic activities of the school (award,
non-award, training, research) and make contributions to the
development of the University's strategic direction.
The School of International Communication and Languages offers
education and training in the general and professional uses of
English, and in the contextual understandings required for successful
communication.
The Executive Dean will encourage the pursuit of excellence in
teaching, learning and research, guide and facilitate research
activity including fostering a research culture within the
School/University. This person will lead and contribute to the
production of publications by the School and provide academic advice
on proposed programs and activities.
The successful candidate will currently hold a position of Professor
or Associate Professor and will have:
- A Doctor of Philosophy
- Consistent output of refereed articles/publications
- Demonstrated interest in Language Acquisition
- Proven record of providing academic leadership and scholarship
- Experience in creating a positive environment in which
academic activity can prosper and flourish
- A record of securing research and other external funds
- Participation in Academic Governance
