Dear linguists,

I am working in a project called Literacy Practices in Working Life
(www.nordiska.su.se/skriftbruk). We study the use of writing in common
occupations in Sweden today, combining ethnographic fieldwork with
discourse analysis (and semiotics). One text type that is
overwhelmingly common in our corpus is tables of different kinds. I am
now seaching for any linguistic, discourse analytical or semiotic work
on tables and table structures. I am familiar with Lemkes article in
Martin & Veel: Reading Science, and also the 1990 article by Alan
Gross, but that is about all I have found. Does anyone know of more
(and new) research on tables? Not only tables in scientific texts, but
also in everyday use and in general?
