Description:
The Amsterdam Center for Language and Communication of the University
of Amsterdam offers a four-year research position at the PhD-level for
the project PARTS-OF-SPEECH SYSTEMS AND DEPENDENT VERB FORMS: A
TYPOLOGICAL STUDY. The project will be carried out at the Department
of Theoretical Linguistics under the supervision of Prof Dr Kees
Hengeveld.
The person appointed is expected to write a PhD thesis on the
aforementioned topic, and to teach part of a course in the second and
third year of appointment. The contract offered is in accordance with
the CAO VSNU. Apart from a salary which runs up from Euro 1813 (before
taxes) in the first year to Euro 2283 (before taxes) in the fourth
year, the candidate will be given the opportunity to participate in
high-quality PhD-courses, both nationally and internationally. A
part-time contract (80%) is an option.
Candidates should have a solid training in both language typology and
Functional Grammar at the MA level, and should, apart from their CV,
submit a piece of written work demonstrating their qualities in these
areas when applying for the position. Applications should arrive at
the ACLC office (see below) before August 5, 2004. Applications
arriving after this date will not be considered. Interviews will be
conducted between August 15 - 20, 2004. The project starts September
1, 2004.
